Student community
Student life
The CAP 20-25 project target university is composed of an independent campus, located a short distance from the city center, and many university buildings integrated into the urban fabric and scattered throughout the city. This dichotomy is reflected in two different relationships between the university and the city of Clermont-Ferrand: on the one hand, academic activities and student life on campus managed by the university; and on the other, a city growth strategy focused on higher education, research and innovation so as to promote its vitality.
To facilitate student integration and accountability in this urban fabric, a new multi-service student card, called Student Card VISA: “Very Important Student of Auvergne" should soon make its appearance. This card includes all of the current features of the student card as well as Culture Tab (offering major discounts on most shows and cultural activities in partnership with the city and cultural spaces).
It could be used in place of the public transit pass (partnership with SMTC) and include access to all CROUS services.

Sense of belonging
In order to develop a sense of belonging to a campus and develop a specific collective identity, an event called Big Bang was co-organized with the city of Clermont Ferrand on October 3, 2017 to celebrate the creation and the first school year of Université Clermont Auvergne. The celebration combined a presentation of the university and its strengths in the form of an original talk show and a concert, attended by more than 6 000 students.
Other projects aiming to strengthen the feeling of belonging are under study, such as the creation of a bricks-and-mortar shop in the city center promoting the "Université Clermont Auvergne” brand. This shop could be shared with the city of Clermont-Ferrand shop, and an on-line version would be also proposed.
Rituals aimed at strengthening the sense of belonging (official school year launch, student-teacher after-work events, graduation ceremony, etc.) are also being developed, with the objective of offering events throughout the year.
