build a collaboration between partner laboratories, using each of their strengths to create a laboratory of excellence in the fields of volcanic phenomena, hazards and risks.
ClerVolc is a center for research, innovation and training in volcanic phenomena, hazards and risks. ClerVolc is funded by the “Laboratory of Excellence” program launched by the French government. The project involves the collaboration of 6 research laboratories from Université Clermont Auvergne-CNRS, BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières) and OPGC (Observatoire Physique du Globe de Clermont-Ferrand), under the leadership of UCA's Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans (LMV).
The key elements of the ClerVolc project are :
The study of volcanic phenomena, from deep magma zones to the atmosphere, as well as their environmental and societal impacts;
The development of new techniques and know-how in volcanological research;
The transfer of knowledge in modern volcanology to young scientists in developing countries.
Create a major European think-tank with international visibility on development issues, bringing together researchers from France, Europe and the South.
The aim of the IDGM+ Laboratory of Excellence is to promote research of excellence that will serve to re-examine international development policies.
The main themes covered by the LabEx are:
It aims to create a major French think tank on development, capable of strengthening the scientific foundations of development policies and the visibility of French research in this field.
